Nepal – Himalaya, Mount Everest, Trekking, Prayer Flags, impressive countryside and a country affected by a major earthquake in 2015. All profits of this tour will be donated to reconstruct houses in Yarsa.
On this tour we want to explore Nepal with you. We will visit Nepal’s pulsating capital Kathmandu, experience the fascinating mountains of the Everest region and trek the classic Khumbu Track to the Mount Everest camp with local guides. On our way back we will visit the village Yarsa in the region of Langtang. We have a special connection to Yarsa as the non-profit organisation Chumanda (www.chumanda.ch) has been offering financial help since the major earthquake in April 2015. Here we can experience up close the hospitality of the locals and how our trekking guides live. At the same time we will take the opportunity to present the financial proceeds from the charity. These proceeds originate from Chumanda and from YOU, as all profits of this tour will benefit the people of Yarsa.

And this is what we have planned:
1.– 2. Day:
We arrive in Kathmandu and check into our guest house. You will have time to take in first impressions and settle in. Kathmandu: colourful bazars, bustling lives, exotic smells, Durbar Square, the district Thamel, the Stupa of Swayambunath – a complete opposite to our orderly Western Europe.
2. – approx. 15. Day
After a short stop in Kathmandu we will fly to Luka which is in the Himalaya region. We will be rewarded with views of breathtaking mountain ranges. The following days we will trek the classic Khumbu Track to Mount Everest Basecamp. As our journey will take us to elevations above 5000m we will take it slowly and will allow ourselves to acclimatize in order to prevent altitude sickness. We will be escorted by two local trekking guides from Yarsa. En route we have plenty of opportunities to visit cultural highlights of the region as for example the monastry of Tengboche, Shepa villages and have an insight on the local village life. However, the true highlight of this trek will be the breathtaking views of the highest mountains in the world: Mount Everest (8,848m), Lhotse (8,516m) or Ama Dablam (6,812m). But this region has more to offer: the Khumbu glacier, beautiful valleys and diverse vegetation. Arriving in Everest Base Camp (5,380m) we immerse into another world: mountaineers from all over the world prepare to climb Mount Everest. If you are inspired feel free to climb Kalar Pattar (5,675m) and you will be rewarded by a spectacular view of Mount Everest.

16. – 18. Day
We will fly back to Kathmandu where we will spend the night. The next adventure awaits the next day: a jeep will take us over rough terrain to Yarsa. And no, we are not using an especially adventurous path, this is the main route people from Yarsa use if they need to travel to Kathmandu. We will stay in Yarsa for two days and have enough time to experience everyday life of the people in Yarsa. At the same time you will have insight in the aftermath of the earthquake. This will be the stage when we will present the financial proceeds from the trip to the villagers.

Jam-packed with all these amazing impressions we will make our way back to Kathmandu. Here you can take the opportunity to do some more sightseeing and buy souvenirs before we have to say goodbye and fly home.
To participate it is vital that you are fit and healthy. As our journey will take us to an elevation of above 5000m we expect some mountain hiking experience. A background in mountaineering is not necessary as this is purely a trekking trip but treadfastness and endurance to cope with a 5 – 6 hour hike per day is necessary.
In Kathmandu we will be staying in a guest house and during our trekking tour we will be staying in lodges (simple guest houses, mountain huts, mass accommodation) and in Yarsa we will be tenting and cooking for ourselves. Everyone should be aware that the accommodation will not have a Western standard. Especially in Yarsa we have to improvise as the aftermath of the earthquake is still present.
